Most times, you’ll find that lingerie is made of delicate material and will either need to be hand-washed or dry cleaned. The latter, of course, can be rather inconvenient. I would recommend using something like Dryel, if you plan on cleaning a garment often. It wouldn’t hurt, however, to take it to a professional periodically.
If you have something like lace lingerie, then hand-washing your undergarments might be the way to go. You could also follow the cleaning instructions provided by the manufacturer or the place of purchase.

Lingerie is a term for women’s fashion undergarments and comes from the French word ‘lin’ for linen. While the term in the French language applies to all undergarments for either gender, in English it is applied only to those women’s undergarments designed to be visually appealing or erotic.
Lingerie being visually appealing is a recent trend. Up through the first part of the 20th century women selected underwear for three major purposes: to alter their shape, for reasons of hygiene, or for modesty. Women’s underwear was often very large and bulky. As the 20th century progressed, underwear became smaller and form-fitting. In the 60’s lingerie manufacturers such as Frederick’s of Hollywood begin to glamorize lingerie and its sexual appeal began to develop.
The lingerie industry has expanded in the 21st century with designs that double as outerwear. The French refer to this as ‘dessous-dessus’ which basically means innerwear as outerwear.
I never could have hoped to get prices like this in the mall, or anywhere else for that matter. Your babydoll sets represent a pretty good bargain in luxury lingerie. The discreet nature of the shopping experience is another positive. I don’t have to get funny looks from predatory teenagers as they pass by the Macy’s lingerie section. I also don’t end up getting bombarded with tons of useless products. It’s easy because I know what I want, I know where to get it and it’s priced so I can get as much as I want!

I can’t believe you guys can sell this sheer nightgown for so little and still make money. When I told a friend she said “they’ll get you on the shipping.” What a drag she was.
